As Tologs change into their winter uniforms, something else is also changing on the Hill. Tologs are replacing their Starbucks Pumpkin Spice lattes with Peppermint Mochas. The fall drinks at Starbucks have been replaced by the chain’s winter drinks – and a lot of Tologs are disappointed.
During the fall, the Starbucks seasonal menu contains mostly Pumpkin Spice latte or Apple Crisp Chai . The winter menu, on the other hand, consists of Peppermint Mocha, a variety of Cran-Merry Refreshers and Caramel Brulée, Chestnut Praline and Sugar Cookie Lattes.
“I like the fall drinks 100%. I love pumpkin more than peppermint. Don’t get me wrong, I like the winter drinks. But I love fall more because I just love the Pumpkin Spice Chai. It is the best thing in the world. Peppermint can also be too much sometimes,” Ruby Perez ‘28 said.
While most agree that winter is the best season, some Tologs find pumpkin to be more comforting.
According to Kiana Morinaga ‘27, “The fall drinks at Starbucks are more special when they come out and it feels more exciting because it’s the start of a new season so the vibe is just right.”
Even people who aren’t big fans of Starbucks have an opinion.
“I don’t really drink Starbucks but I would say [I prefer the] fall drinks because the pumpkin makes me feel really cozy and happy,” said Elise Schoettler ‘26.
All said, there are a few Tologs who prefer the winter drinks.
“I love both a lot,” said Reni Martinez ‘25. “ But I’m going to have to go with winter because of the Peppermint Mocha Frappuccino.”
Even though the winter seasons can cause people to get gloomy, the change in their drinks can brighten their moods as they go from a Strawberry Açaí Refresher with no berries and light on ice to a Pumpkin Spice Latte, to finally a Peppermint Mocha. Even though these drinks have caused many Tologs to be late to class due to the long lines, they have also prepared them for the seasonal changes.
