Heat curling irons were once the preferred method of acquiring jaw-dropping curls, but now heatless curls have joined the picture. With these new trending curling methods, Tologs have considered tossing aside their damaging heat curlers and turning to the viral heatless curl option. The question is, which curling method is better?
“I really like the concept of zero heat damage. From what I’ve seen, they seem to give similar results to using heat tools,” Everest Zander ‘26 said.
This new trend is favored for its healthier hair-curling results and the different heatless curl options that range from leggings and socks to heating curling wands.
“I remember when the trend first surged. I wanted to follow the trend of people doing it, but I wasn’t very good,” Gaby Gamboa ‘25 said.
Heatless curls may be challenging to use. There is a formula to it that can be hard to master.
“The result of heatless curls depends on how tight you wrap your hair,” Lia Avagyan ‘26 said.
Tologs agree that even though it takes a while to get the hang of it, heatless curls provide results that are similar to heated curls, with the bonus of not damaging hair.
“In terms of appearance with or without heat, curls look the same. If I could actually do heatless curls successfully, I would,” Gamboa ‘25 said.
But of course, this trend is not for everyone and other Tologs prefer traditional heat curlers.
“I think heat curls are better because you can decide the tightness of the curl and how you want it to look, whereas with heatless curls you kind of just wrap it and hope for the best,” Avagyan said.
Traditional curlers? Heatless curls? It all depends on how adventurous you are.
